Dutch studio Game Oven has announced that, after three and a half years, it will be closing down in April.

This is due to not being able to finance finding a new game to make through prototyping and testing, as well as see it through to completion.

This seems to be the result of the studio's willingness to not compromise its vision when creating its experimental iOS games.

Unfortunately, while this work method allowed for wonderful and unique games such as Fingle, Bounden, Bam fu, and Friendstrap, it led to an increasing pressure over the years.

"This pressure removed much of the creative downtime we needed and gave us less and less time to think about new games or to make new prototypes," writes the studio.

"This ultimately left us where we are today, at a point where we are in need of another vision for a beautiful game, but where we don't have one."

You may recall that Game Oven did announce an underwater roguelike called Jelly Reef late last year. Fear not, it's still due to arrive on iOS and Android in March, but that will be the studio's final game.

And so, the studio that used our iPads and iPhones to get closer, touching and dancing, will be left to our memories.

Thanks for those awkward, happy, and funny times you gave us, Game Oven.

We've known for a little while that HTC would be showing off a war-set first person shooter at Computex, but now that two videos have appeared online, we can confirm that it'll be set in WW2.

HTC's booth is set up with sandbags and a backdrop to resemble the in-game environment. This, combined with the way the HTC Vive works means that what you're seeing people do in real life is what their character is doing in VR.

Gameplay seems simple. Players bed down behind the sandbags, and hold off approaching enemies from different weapons. No word on exactly what weapons there will be, but there's clearly a Thompson in the on-screen footage.

You use the positional tracking of the Vive's hand controllers to hold your weapons, in addition to tossing grenades down the street.

At the end of game there's a brief logo flashing up for a developer, Fantahorn Studio, which seems to be the name of the internal developer.

From what you can see of the screen, before that stage the street gets completely torn apart in a hail of gunfire and explosions.

It's not clear at this point whether the game is destined for full release of if it is simply intended to be a tech demo as HTC experiment with what can be done but either way there's a good chance it'll show up on Steam at some stage.

Similarly it's unclear how deep the game goes - is this the sole level, or is there a series of levels of tower defence gameplay with you playing the role of human tower?

E3 is right around the corner, so if they've got anything else up their sleeve, we'll likely see it then. Hopefully we'll see it then. I love shooters.
What largeness thinks in Paradise was sawn.
Super billiards master (test suit)
Next week's looking pretty busy in the mobile world and it's about to get a little busier as the wacky obstacle runner Oopstacles gets a huge content update on Thursday.

Oh, it feels so, so sweet to finally know that Tower Fortress is coming to mobile later this week.
Our next game #TowerFortress by the very talented @keybol will be hitting next week! Get ready! pic.twitter.com/1mqHp42q2r— Nitrome (@Nitrome) November 10, 2017 First covered last August, Tower Fortress is an action platformer with gameplay elements heavily inspired by classic titles like Downwell, Metroid, Contra, and partly-inspired by Nuclear Throne as keybol says on their Twitter.

You've got to get from the bottom of the tower to the top, all while battling hideous monsters, traversing challenging obstacles, and randomised levels, so don't get too comfortable with the layout. There are 16 different enemy types, four different areas of the tower, nine gun upgrades, 25 character upgrades, boss fights, permadeath, and - I'm out of breath. Phew.

Tower Fortress will most likely arrive on iOS and Android this Thursday, November 16th. We'll let you know when it drops.
Sweetly supposed them mistress of his heart.
